Open Fields Forever

While I wait with anticipation for my departure day to come I have been practicing my Japanese, considering things that I'll want to do once I'm over there and thinking about things that I will likely miss about the US when I leave.

Here is the rough list of things I wish to do while I'm over there:
(In no particular order)
  • Go Scuba Diving
  • Prepare a Bento box with homemade authentic cuisine
  • Make a Japanese friend
  • Make a Non-Japanese friend
  • Go to an Onsen (Preferably further north with Snow monkeys)
  • Visit a Shinto Shrine
  • Visit Tsukiji Market
  • Visit a Ramen shop
  • Climb mount Fuji
  • Eat Fugu (poisonous puffer fish)
  • Sing Karaoke
  • Watch Sumo live
  • Ride the Bullet Train
  • Eat Sushi in Japan
  • Play Pachinko
  • Get a Haircut
  • See Kabuki
  • See Noh
  • Visit Kyoto
  • Visit Hiroshima/Nagasaki
  • Watch Sakura blossoms bloom
  • Take Martial Arts lessons
  • Get a Job teaching English
I'll be posting updates as I cross these off my list and add new ones to it.

Here is a list of things I think I'll miss:
  • Large open fields
  • Never having to see an Asian "toilet" (hole in the ground)
  • Prevalence of red meats
  • Mexican food (I've been told it's hard to find abroad)
  • Large houses/rooms (I like having a bedroom that can containing more than just the bed)
  • Privacy
  • Demographic diversity
  • Being able to blend in with a crowd.
  • Leg room on transportation
I'll post updates about this list as well as time progresses.
